Phillip "Chozen Cullens is the focal character of the FX series Chozen. He is a 28 year old white fat gay gangster rapper who is ten years out of touch with technology and pop-culture after living out a decade long prison sentence. In the Redband Trailer, Chozen's sister Tracy appears to call him "Phil," leading to speculation that his given name is Phillip. His mugshot placard bears the last name "Cullens."
Background[]
After getting set up by Phantasm with "cocaine, weed, machine guns, and [prostitutes]" at the naive, young age of 18, Chozen is sentenced to 10 years in prison. During the course of his incarceration, he learns many hard lessons about life, and crafts a persona for himself in the form of his new, single-word name: "Chozen." Now, 10 years later, he is a gay, white rapper fresh out of prison armed with a new message and a new world view shaped by his time there. Chozen is on a quest for redemption and seeks to claim what he considers his destiny as the world’s number one rap artist. His music and lyrics take aim at the stereotypes of machismo and misogyny that are synonymous with rap music. Adding to the challenge of an already lofty set of goals, Chozen is ten years behind in areas crucial to a successful music career, such as technology and pop-culture in general.
